The key facts and figures
Victoria Gate is a £165million retail development in Leeds, England. Designed by architects Acme, the development provides Leeds with a 21st century retail arcade, and is an exceptional addition to the city’s rich merchandising and textile history. The scheme is anchored by a flagship John Lewis store, with Victoria Gate’s two street arcade also boasting 30 new retail brands and restaurants, as well as a casino.
Developers working on this project were conscious to implement stringent levels of security around the building’s perimeter, due to the high-value retail outlets housed within the development. Often with projects such as this, security concerns are concentrated towards the front of the outlet, leaving rear fire exits and personnel entrance doors largely unprotected.
After close liaison with our client’s design team to ensure an engineering solution was achieved, Martin Roberts designed, manufactured and installed 22 premium and architectural doorsets for the Victoria Gate project.
Configured to meet the demands associated with the build of a high-traffic shopping centre, these bespoke security doors offered the superior quality you would associate with a Martin Roberts product, with the convenience of an easy-to-fit frame. Specified by the architect, these glamorous doors perform a less glamorous, but equally essential, role in the new build. Used at the rear of the building, the fire exits and personnel doors give staff and stock access, while protecting precious goods from would-be thieves.
