The key facts and figures
Western Power Distribution (WPD) was having particular issues with ‘rough sleepers’ breaking into substations to spend the night under cover. This had some serious safety implications to the people entering the site, with a real risk of electrocution and death. Therefore, WPD had a requirement to provide a solution to make their substation doors more secure.
Being in the centre of a busy and vibrant city it meant the doors also had to be aesthetically pleasing, as well as having a large opening to get equipment in and out, and a requirement for secure cable access for generator cables.
Our long-term partner, T&A Maintenance, have many years’ experience of both our products and working with WPD. They also knew from experience that our products were customisable and secure enough for the bespoke solution that this job required.
Working together we produced a custom M2M+ bi-fold substation door to protect the large site opening. The doors were fitted with cable access hatches, and were aesthetically ‘clean and neat’ so not to distract from the city surroundings.
T&A Maintenance provided the expert installation of the doors, leaving the client with a newly secured and well-presented site.
